Only You 06:19
Only You Only you can make this sorry world seem sweet and somehow worth the trouble only you can reach into my conscience find the treasure in the rubble only you can fill my days with knowledge that this life is for the living only you can see me make a mess of love yet still be so forgiving Only you… Only you can sing the song that fills my sails and leads me across the ocean only you can fill this hole and fix the damage done by my emotion only you can know my heart and turn it back to flame when it is frozen only you could not condemn this foolish rocky road that I have chosen Only you… Only you could see me at my worst and know that I’ve been so much better only you can ease the memory and give me strength to just forget her only you can guide me to the riverside where time and thirst are mended only you can teach me to let go of all this sorrow I’ve befriended Only you… only you… only you… only you…

Sunset on the Highway Big city blues and a pocket of change spent years out runnin’ through a land cold and strange made a few small mistakes but did one big thing right another prodigal son on his way home tonight. Chorus Sunset on the highway the sky of painted flame I’m goin’ back to my hometown where somebody knows my name I found myself wonderin’ if she’s still around the girl whose sweet memory keeps me tied and bound I just found a letter she wrote long ago how she couldn’t hold on so she just let me go Chorus I had no idea I’d be headed this way all things looked different only just yesterday but God knows the reason and God knows the plan who am I to question? I am just a man… Chorus

Sorry (If I Love You) I don't want to make your life any harder than it has to be I don't want to pin you down so you feel like you ain't free I don't want to be part of a darkness you can't see through I'm sorry if I love you but there's nothing that I can do. I don't want to work so hard that my heart turns into stone I don't want to close my eyes so I can't see how we have grown I don't want to wake up from a dream and find that it isn't true I'm sorry if I love you but there's nothing that I can do. You've got the lips I long to feel on mine, the hands I long to hold. Every time that I see your face it's like I found my pot of gold. I don't want to walk these streets without you by my side I don't want to just give in 'til at least I can say I tried. I don't want to keep you from, the things that you must do I'm sorry if I love you but there's nothing that I can do.

King of His Hometown He's the king of his hometown, buy him another beer. Smile when he tells you, he'd rather be a million miles from here. He's the king of his hometown, the streets are his stage. His smile is so peaceful but his heart's filled with rage. He's got a good job, a child and a wife, and a bargain with the devil, that cost him his whole life. He says, someday I'll find it, my fortune and fame but only after first breakin' every rule in the game. He's the king of his hometown, give him another kiss. Treat him with kindness when he asks why it has to be like this. He's the king of his hometown I think he knows in his heart, that four wheels and a highway is best place to start. They fed him on promise, on hope and on dreams. Sent him off to climb mountains and sit beside streams. Told him that one day his ship would come in now he waits patiently for that day to begin. He's the king of his hometown, tell him another tale about faith and intention and how they don't fail. He's the king of his hometown, with the world in his hands but there's so much confusion in the place where he stands. One day in his youth as he stood upon the shore He saw the horizon as a great, golden door. He's been knockin' for years now tryin' to break free. Now he can't help but wonder if there ever was a key. He's the king of his hometown, sing him another song. Fill his soul up with beauty, teach him right from wrong. He's the king of his hometown, he plays tricks now and then. So don't be surprised if you never see him again...

Make Me Whole Be my lover in this World of woe be my friend out on the road and I will be the Garden where your greatest seeds are sowed. Be my companion in the darkness be my shelter from the storm, and I will be the fiery light that will keep you safe and warm For restless are the winds of change and so tempting is the night. We must stand together if we want to win the fight. I’m not asking you for promises, I’m not asking for your soul but I’m halfway there to paradise, and your love will make me whole... Be my comfort in confusion be my refuge from the laws of men and I will be the ashes where your faith can rise again. Be my guardian of innocence be the forgiveness of my guilt and I’ll be the Foundation where your dreams can all be built. For the careless are the raging seas and so blinding is the light. We must cleave to one another if we want to make this flight. I’m not asking you to surrender to any flag upon a pole it’s just that I am almost free and your love will make me whole... Be my laughter when all is sorrow be my tears when I can’t weep and I will be the treasure that forever you may keep. Be the vision that leads me onwards be the voice that can still my rage and I will be the epic tale that leaps off of your page. For worthless is the ragged trail when we walk it all alone We must hold fast to each other’s hand if we want to make it home. I’m not asking you for silence when your heart wants to rock and to roll it’s just that I’m naked out here and your love will make me whole...

The Real Thing Some say love’s an illusion, some say it’s too good to be true. It caused me so much confusion, until the night, when I laid my eyes on you. Now I’m wonderin’ when it is you’re comin' home, hopin' that you’ll never say goodbye. 'Cause you lit the fire in me, I’m the man I want to be when I'm holdin' you and lookin' in your eye. I don’t know how to tell ya but I think we might have found the real thing this time... I’ve seen a lot of things on these roads that I’ve walked down through the summer and the winter and the spring. But who knew in the end, that the fall would be my friend, and that a dream as real as you Autumn would bring? The leaves beneath our feet on the golden sunny street flamin' like the whole world was on fire. They've fallen to the ground without makin' any sound and lined the path that leads to our desire. and I don’t know how to tell ya but I think we might have found the real thing this time... They tell me that a patient man is wealthy, they tell me every dog will have his day. But I have seen the light, and its ‘s shinin’ o so bright and there’s nothin' now that’s standing in the way. You can be my woman and I will be your man we can write a whole new fairy tale. It only goes to show that when the wind begins to blow, the best things in this life just aren’t for sale. And I don’t know how to tell ya but I think we might have found the real thing this time...

Sanctified 05:56
Sanctified Sometimes it gets so hard to see through all the pain and misery that rolls like waves upon the shoreline crashing. The walls around me warp and bend and it feels as though I'm at the end I look up at the lonely lightning flashing. My memory is beat and torn I await again to be reborn I blow upon this angel horn that’s broken. But who knows why I have to wait? be standing there outside the gate hoping my words are not left all unspoken. I will wake, in the morning say my prayers by the dawn’s early light and I don’t need any justification 'cause I’ve been sanctified tonight... So round and round the world she turns the lighted fuse it slowly burns and it seems like no one ever learns the reason. I see the men who would be kings and fear for what tomorrow brings but know that all these things must have their season. The babe he suckles on the breast the mother never gets no rest I’m filled up with this holy zest for living. But it’s coming right down to the wire I’m just another gun for hire I’m glad my woman’s always so forgiving. I will wake, in the morning say my prayers by the dawn’s early light and I don’t need any justification cause I’ve been sanctified tonight... So I go on out into the rain with the wind a swirlin' in my brain I try so hard to not complain about it. But day by day it takes its toll I feel it risin' in my soul it's so hard to whisper when you want to shout it. I look around and all I see are ghosts of prides hypocrisy like a dream where it just feels like endless fallin' somewhere there must be some place new where every thought is real and true but now I only hear the devil callin' I will wake, in the morning say my prayers by the dawn’s early light and I don’t need any justification cause I’ve been sanctified tonight...

Work 06:02
Work We run through these days, and crawl through the years. We hide all our courage, and face all our fears. We dream of Redemption, then wake in the dark. Trade our great journey, for a walk in the park The shadow must someday be lifted, we'll open the Gates of the Sun when all of the battles have ended then all of our work will be done, O all of our work will be done. We drink from sad fountains, and suffer from thirst. The best are forsaken, for the love of the worst. We laugh on the gallows and weep when it’s through. We lie to our conscience and think that it’s true How long can you stare down the barrel livin' so under the gun? When all of the bullets are buried then all of our work will be done, O all of our work will be done. We pray on the altar, and question our Fate. We watch the clock turning, and hope that it's not too late. We build golden prisons, we cannot escape. We run to our Lovers, close our eyes to the rape. But one day the cup will turn over, and all of the game will be won. When rest comes to we who are weary, then all of our work will be done, O all of our work will be done.

Downstream 04:31
Downstream Where did you come from, with your soft love so easy and sweet? How did you find me? I thought I’d be lost out there on Lonely Street. And suddenly, I’ve got everything that I wanted O baby please tell me, it ain’t just a dream Cause I’ve struggled, for so long, swimming against the current so strong. Now finally, I’m really free to float downstream... What brought you to me Was it blind luck or did the stars cross? How did I win you? ‘Cause to be honest I’m at a loss to explain, how in the cold and the dark pouring rain you broke through just like a sunbeam! Cause I wondered and I waited, at the water’s edge I hesitated now finally, I’m really free to float downstream... Now you’re beside me, It feels like there’s nothing that I couldn’t do. If you let me love you, I will promise to make it all true. This I know, when we wake up to every new morning we’ll be washed in the glow of a love supreme. Cause I stood there on the shore, until you came and opened the door now finally, I’m really free to float downstream...

Home 06:05
Home I love you like a ribbon that stretches to the sun. That's bound to earth by sailor’s knots that cannot be undone It’s pulled tight and it stretches, but it’s spun by careful hands made of all the finest threads from far and ancient lands. I love you like the mighty wind that blows upon the sea that long ago had whispered to the Shores of Galilee. It’s swirling and it rages but it fills the sails of Grace that will carry us to shores where we can finally know our place.. If I could teach the stars to sing a melody that you could call your own would you promise that forever, I could call your heart my home? I love you like the pages of a book that doesn’t close written by a future hand, that only fortune knows. It’s heavy and it’s dusty but it’s in your mother tongue, a window to our days and all the songs that we have sung. I love you like the blooming rose of all Eternity whose beauty shimmers 'neath the wondrous Veil of Mystery. It’s fragile and it trembles but it will not ever fade it’s nurtured by the faith that cannot ever be waylaid. If you hear a chorus, ringing joyfully beneath this starry dome, would you promise that forever, I could call your heart my home? I love you like the morning light that Heaven does bestow, that rises on the good and bad and leads all life to grow. It’s blinding and it’s burning, but it’s constant as the truth, seeing all beneath it and the secrets of our youth. I love you like the midnight darkness all around the Moon, vast beyond all knowledge as we lay upon the dune. It’s empty and it’s silent but it holds us like the womb, and beckons us to gaze beyond the confines of the tomb! If you hear me sing to you, no matter where it is that I may roam will you promise that forever, I could call your heart my home?
